Interpreting dreams is an art.

The field of dreams and their interpretation has intrigued us for thousands of years. There are different types of dreams, for example a prophetic dream in which we receive a message about what is to come (Joseph the dreamer). Or an educational dream in which we receive general information about the universe or life (I received the post I wrote about fear in a dream) and there is also a dream that gives us an answer to a question or problem we have. The dream I will talk about here is the dream that gives us information about ourselves. All people dream, but only some of us remember it.

Those fortunate ones who remember their dreams can interpret them and learn surprising things about themselves. Dreams are a wonderful mechanism for helping, since most of the time we don't know what we really feel and think. The subconscious talks to us and explains to us how we are feeling through dreams.

The dream itself consists of several aspects: 1. Images, people, situations that we encountered the day before or during the recent period. 2. Emotions and feelings that arise during the dream, such as fear, sadness, joy, suffocation, etc. When you interpret them, you get a snapshot of what is happening to us emotionally and mentally. You get a particularly strong hint about what is really bothering us and what we are dealing with.

Interpreting a dream is an art. I know there are many books on the subject, but in my opinion the subject needs to be revised. I believe that the number of universal symbols is minimal and only the dreamer himself can interpret the rest. You just need to know how. I will give some examples of universal symbols:

Water – symbolizes emotions. When we dream of drowning or being in rough water, it is the subconscious' way of telling us that we are in emotional turmoil or cannot contain a certain emotional state.

Car – symbolizes the path we take in life. When we dream that we are driving, we are leading our lives. We are on the path we have chosen. When we dream that something else is driving, the subconscious informs us that we have joined the path of something else and that it is not our path.

Snake, bat, butterfly – symbolize changes.

Example of a dream and its meaning

I'm driving a car that's giving me problems. The car is stuttery. I'm going up a long hill and the car isn't really responding. The gas doesn't really work. There's a danger that the car will stall and I'm afraid it will start to roll back. The brakes don't work well either. I reach a small plateau in the middle of the hill, stop the car and continue on foot. I see my brother negotiating to buy me a new car. He's worried about me. I get angry and tell him to stop. I need to choose my own car.

Interpretation

I am leading myself to a higher awareness. There are obstacles along the way, the progress is slow and uncertain, even scary. I do not despair despite the fear of returning to old, unconscious behavior. One of the things that angers me is the attempts of others to convince me to change my path. To the path they will choose for me.
